Honda Cars India is all set to unveil the updated Honda City on May 22, but ahead of its official debut, leaked images of the facelifted sedan have surfaced online. The latest images reveal a redesigned front fascia along with several styling and feature updates for the popular mid-size sedan.
Redesigned Front End Revealed
The leaked images show that the new Honda City facelift will receive a sharper and more premium-looking front design. Up front, the sedan gets sleeker LED headlamps along with a wider honeycomb-pattern grille.
Honda has also redesigned the front bumper with new air inlets and a revised air dam. Another noticeable change is the repositioned Honda badge, which now sits above the grille on the bonnet instead of being integrated into the grille itself.
The facelifted City also appears to feature a fresh set of dual-tone alloy wheels. While the rear design has not been fully revealed yet, reports suggest that updated tail lamps and revised bumpers could also be part of the package.
Cabin Could Get More Features
Interior details are still limited, but spy images hint at a larger freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, likely replacing the current 8-inch unit. This could also bring slight revisions to the dashboard layout.
Honda is also expected to add new comfort and convenience features such as ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat and a 360-degree camera. The ADAS suite could also receive functional updates.
Engine Options Likely To Remain Unchanged
Mechanically, the updated City is expected to continue with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121hp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices will likely include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.
The 126hp e:HEV hybrid powertrain is also expected to be retained, although it remains unclear whether the hybrid variant will receive the facelift update simultaneously or at a later stage.
Expected Price And Rivals
Honda is likely to price the updated City slightly higher than the outgoing model. Currently, the sedan is priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, the facelifted City will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus in the Indian market.
